Get more market share

Marketing is not only about getting word out about your product or service; in most cases you must also establish yourself as an expert. With competition for the consumer’s dollars at an all time high, there are some very simple strategies you can implement to gain better market position while increasing your expert status. A better position can equate to increased revenues.

To gain expert status some will choose to put their knowledge into a book. The world of book publishing has changed so much that what was once out of the reach for many is now very doable. However, there is time, effort and costs involved in taking a book to market.

A more viable option for many would be as simple as writing reports and/or articles. If you have knowledge about a particular subject, turn that knowledge into a special report. A special report is a multi-page document packed with valuable “how-to” information that readers can use immediately.

Special Reports

A special report contains information on a specific topic. You can either write the report yourself, have a staff member write it, or hire a ghostwriter. There are plenty of freelance writers who can develop your information into an excellent report.

In some cases you will want to give your report away and in other cases you will sell the report. Primary reasons to give your report away is to drive traffic to your website, promotional opportunities, and as a thank you to premier clients.

Reports position you as an expert. The most common type of Special Report is a “How to” report. Your report should solve a problem such as making money, getting healthy, building a successful business, building a better team, etc.

Here are some quick tips to write an effective report.

- Write on something specific to your knowledge base.

- Outline your report so that there is a good flow to the information.

- Virtually any topic can be written about if there is a market demand. What people are looking for are ways to increase income or revenue, increase productivity, improve the quality of their personal or professional life, or decrease costs in some way. It may be that you have something that covers all these points or it could be a report on one of these points.

- Research your information as you develop your report. You will find people want more of your reports if the information is well researched and valuable.

- Often the most difficult part of writing is starting. The best advice I can give is to just start and don’t worry about how it reads. Once you have written all the information, then read through it and rewrite as necessary.

- Have someone else read the piece as well. It is recommended to have your report edited regardless of how good a writer you are. This will assure you are concise in your delivery of information.

MlM relationship Goals

Had it not been for my career with an MLM company that lasted more than twenty years, my husband and I would not be able to enjoy our current free, very comfortable and adventurous lifestyle. We live in an RV resort at home in British Columbia Canada during summer and an RV resort in Yuma, AZ during winter. Our home is luxurious by motor coach standards and all we have to do is turn the key and drive the home down the highway whenever we wish to scratch the traveling itch.

I can’t say that I reached the highest pinnacle in this MLM Company but I can say it was close to that. What made me successful were my consistency in working the business, my tenacity and more than anything else my relationships with clients, colleagues and corporate staff. Because we are people first and business owners second, my relationships were the cement in my foundation. Nothing can be built on a flimsy foundation.

Thus, I put it to you that without healthy relationships in all segments of your life, your success in an MLM business, which is the epitome of Relationship Marketing, will be a struggle. I watched many a promising, talented woman crash and burn when a key relationship, either business or personal, went off the rails and fueled the fire of destruction.

MLM businesses tend to really appeal to women, especially if they are independently spirited. That could also be read as “I don’t want to be tied down to a J.O.B”. These women usually have entrepreneurial DNA in their genes and don’t take well to being followers. Most of us have a ‘leadership’ tendency, set our own timetable, rules and make our own choices. This is wonderful, but there is a downside. There is a tendency to run into more difficulties in relationships. We have the female traits of empathy and nurturing (right brained) which when combined with a strong sense of independence (left brained) can be akin to mixing babies with colic.

Relationships are complex; they will ride an up and down scale. The closer and more deep the relationship, the higher and lower it can ride on this scale. So how does one ensure that their array of relationships will help and not hinder their MLM success?

First, you must have relationship goals. This is the basis, the foundation. List the key people in your personal and business life (some may be in both lists). Decide what it is you want from each relationship. Decide what you want to give to each relationship. Let that person know.

Second, you need to expand your knowledge of human nature. Here is where you become a student, a voracious student. Read the Masters. You know who they are; Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer, Don Miguel Ruis, Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor to name a few of many.

Third, you must be willing to ask for help, usually before something becomes a crisis. Don’t allow things to fester, become deep rooted. Go to upline, go to corporate and if that isn’t feasible or appropriate, find a relationship coach. Not to act as negotiator, but to help you with your end of the relationship issues.

Fourth, know your own highest values. It is crucial that you live your life aligned with your values. Otherwise you are like a dog with a mouth full of peanut butter – your tongue will feel like it’s going to fall out from licking, but things remain stuck. What can you simply not live without? Freedom? Kindness? Organization? Find someone who knows how to guide you in a values exercise.

Fifth, know how to set your boundaries and inform others what they are. This is tougher for women than it is for men. Women have been traditionally raised to be of help to others, not stand up for themselves. It’s one of the reasons MLM appeals to women. But if you want to climb the ladder of success and independence, you must set boundaries. What is it you simply will not tolerate? Or, what are you tolerating right now? That will give you some hints.

Sixth, you have two ears and one mouth for a reason, become a true listener. It is in desperately short supply. It seems like no one really listens. Conversation goes back and forth with all sentences beginning with ‘I’. When we are not speaking we are running what we want to say in our heads rather than listening to the other person. When you deeply listen you can hear a person’s soul, you can hear what is not being said. It’s an art; an art that is truly appreciated and much needed. Hone it.

If you take all this in, you may find that you are doing pretty well with most of the secrets to MLM relationship success, you may find that you need to sharpen a couple, you may need to update yourself on all. Whatever it may be just start.

And remember to…

Keep On Goaling!

Important Question to ask a Sponsor

Choosing a sponsor is an important decision when choosing a MLM Business. Although your sponsor will not determine your success or failure, you can increase the likelihood of your success by your choice of a great sponsor. Here are 10 questions to ask in order to determine if the person you are speaking with is the right person for you to partner with:

1. What are your goals and vision for your business? Although the goals and vision of your sponsor will not determine your success, they can give you some excellent insight as to if the person is serious and can help you understand where they are headed with their business and
to see if you fit in with their long-term strategy.

2. How many MLM companies have you worked with? Although there are some serious leaders who have been in several companies, the reality is that if the person has jumped around a lot and has worked with multiple companies at once or has changes companies many times within a few years, you want to be careful. They may not have the commitment to the company they are currently with that you will want in order to create long-term income and stability.

3. What are your current methods of working the business? Although you can easily learn how to work the business using different methods than your sponsor, and you are certainly not expected to do things in the exact same way as your sponsor, the reality is that an ideal partner should have experience with the main methods that you plan to use. For example, if you want to build online but you sign up with someone who has never built online, it will be more difficult for you than if you choose a sponsor who has internet MLM experience.

4. What kind of training do you offer your team? This is something else you want to consider before making your choice. Various teams within various companies offer different kinds of training. Make sure that the training you need will be available when you need it.

5. Are you part time or full time in the industry? While there are many successful part-timers and you do not want to eliminate someone as a potential sponsor just because they are part-time, you want to at least know what there commitment to the business is as well as what kind of time they have available?

6. What is your philosophy for building your business? While the answers to this will vary widely, this is something that you will want to at least be aware of since various philosophies can impact how a particular team within a company works.

7. What systems or tools for recruiting and gaining customers does your team use? For some teams they may have a special online system, while others may have a particular kind of off-line system, others may have a cross between the two or they may provide you with training on how to create your own system. At the minimum, a good MLM sponsor should have some kind of organized system available for you to use.

8. Where do you get most of your MLM training from? This can be useful to know since ideally a large portion of it should come from the company but in many cases, they may also have some recommended trainers from outside of the company.

9. Do you ever stack people in your organization or give leads to your downline? There are both pros and cons to this and the pay plan for the company will have an impact on whether or not this is a common practice within the company. In general too much of this is not a good thing and you should stay clear of any sponsor who promises to give you lots of people or to build your downline for you.

10. How do you see us working together? Regardless of your potential sponsor’s leadership ability, experience in the company and industry and level within the company, one of the most important factors to consider is whether or not you think that you can get along with the person. This is crucial since they will be training you and you will be doing business together so at the very least you need to like the person and feel like you can develop a lasting and profitable
relationship.

Have a winning attitude in 2010

I am amazed at the negativity around me at times. It seems as though the only news is bad news and people just love to dwell on it and increase the misery in their lives. If you are on planet Earth you have seen this to. Imagine if the news agencies tried to report mainly the good news of the day. What effect would that have on the outlook of the entire world? Personal Development / Self Improvement is the only way for us to achieve this peaceful state in our own lives.

The first thing we must all do to begin any type of change in our lives is to silence the noise. So many times we get so accustomed to the constant drone of distraction that we don't even realize the toll it takes on our lives. There are cultures in the world that find some of the most remote places around to build temples of solitude so they can connect with powers greater than their own. Where is your fortress of solitude in your home environment?

Today society is so fast if we are not careful we will miss many opportunities in our lives due to the state of confusion our busy lives keep us in. Opportunity will not stand and yell at your door and sometimes it won't even knock lightly it will just pass by. That is why it is so important to find peace in your world no matter how chaotic it might be.

My favorite time to focus is early in the morning before the roosters are awake usually around 4:30 AM. I find the time productive for really getting focused on my current goals, projects, and writing. It is important to spend quality time alone and in a quiet place so you can recharge your mind. The human mind thrives on being fed and this type of feeding is of the utmost importance for you to grow.

Like I said in the beginning there is enough negativity in the world so keep your thoughts on positive things. Begin to let the world that is become what you would have it be and you will create a different world for yourself. This is not the power of positive thinking even though it is it is not the power of connecting with the divine even though it is truly it is the simple process of programming your mind. What better way to program than with positive uplifting thoughts that will be able to propel you towards your dreams without having to worry about baggage.

If you don't already spend this time alone to recharge from the onslaught of the day I suggest you start today even for 15 minutes. Find the time for yourself in your busy world to recharge your thinking and life will be more complete. Look for the beauty, opportunity, and the hope in everything for by that simple action you will have made the world a better place even if it was just in your mind.
